About Me

Hi, I'm Jared Giles and I started SquareOne to close the gap between public education and economic opportunity.

Public schools are the most important lever for economic mobility in America. I've spent my career building the infrastructure that puts that into practice: at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where I built school-to-career pathways for students across NYC; at the Partnership for New York City, where I directed a coalition of 350 companies around workforce, education, and economic development; and through STEAM Engine and SquareOne, where I'm replicating the Brooklyn STEAM Center model across all five boroughs and advising cities, employers, and school systems on building the same kind of infrastructure at scale.

The NYC Economic Mobility Dashboard was built for the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice. It tracks outcomes across NYC Public Schools, CUNY, Small Business Services, NYC Economic Development Corporation, and four other agencies. It was designed for decision-makers. Clear enough that a mayor can understand the state of play in 60 seconds and know which meeting to call.
